This question is a great place to start, since providing a credible and authentic group of experts is at the core of our work.
We look at the whole picture.
That starts with the people involved with the show. We review the identity and credentials of hosts and contributors. A referral from a current Health Podcast Library member or a trusted health leader is always helpful, though it's not required. We also look at relationships with respected news, professional, or academic organizations, as well as whether the show is produced by or in partnership with a recognized production agency or media company. In most cases, we also conduct an interview with the show host and/or producers and check references. We're looking for shows where the primary purpose is to educate and inform, not to promote a product or service. Every show — whether referred, invited, or submitted directly — goes through a thorough review process by a real human.
We also look for signs that the creator is genuinely invested in their show: a dedicated website, clear ways to get in touch, a presence on social media, and an active publishing history. On the website itself, we look for standard legal terms like a privacy policy, disclaimer, and terms of use, as well as a clear way to contact the show's owners or producers. This helps protect the listening experience and the privacy of our audience.
Beyond content, we pay close attention to production quality. We're looking for shows that deliver a good listening experience — clean audio, thoughtful editing, and content that respects the audience's time. We understand that certain recordings, such as live events or conference panels, don't always reach the same audio standard as a studio session. That said, we don't accept shows that are consistently poorly recorded, rely on low-fidelity recording platforms or equipment, or have persistent issues like echo, reverb, or inconsistent sound levels.
You don't need to have a finished podcast to reach out. If you're a health professional or organization planning a new show, we encourage you to contact us early. We're happy to work with creators during the development process and have Health Podcast Library be a part of your launch strategy. Our review criteria still apply, but we evaluate pre-launch shows based on the strength of the creators and their plan for the show.
We know that sounds like a lot, but most creators of shows committed to sharing credible health information already meet these standards.
Health Podcast Library isn't a replacement for those platforms. It's a discovery tool that helps you find shows worth listening to in the first place. And, once you find them, you can listen to them directly on our site, or find links to your favorite podcast platforms.
The challenge with the major platforms is that there are millions of podcasts on them, and no one is sorting the credible health content from everything else. Those platforms don't make any distinction or consider the source of the information they share, and they're not designed to.
Health Podcast Library does.
Every show in our collection has been reviewed by a real person. We look at who's behind the show, their credentials, their production quality, and whether the primary purpose is to educate and inform. When you find a show on Health Podcast Library, you can listen with confidence that the people and organizations behind it are dedicated to science, medicine, and healthcare.
Once you find something you like, you can listen right on our site or tap through to follow the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you prefer to listen. Think of us as the place you go to find your next great health podcast, not the place where you have to listen to it.
Submitting your podcast for review is free, and every accepted show receives a basic listing in Health Podcast Library at no monthly cost.
We also offer paid membership tiers for creators who want more from their listing and from the community. These include access to our private LinkedIn community, host and team profiles on your show's page, social media links, featured videos or a YouTube playlist, and access to Member office hours.
For details on what's included at each Membership level, visit our membership page.
No. Health Podcast Library is completely free for listeners. You can browse the library, discover shows, and listen without creating an account or paying anything.
If you choose to create a free listener account, you'll be able to follow your favorite shows and get notified when new episodes are published. Health Podcast Library does not create any paywalls for any content in the library.
No. You retain full ownership of your podcast and all content within it. Listing on Health Podcast Library works the same way as submitting to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or iHeart Radio — you grant us a non-exclusive license to display and distribute your show, and that's it.
No. We don't touch your files. All audio and video is served directly from your media host, exactly as published. Nothing is re-encoded, re-processed, or modified.
No. We do not insert any advertising into your content. Unlike some platforms, Health Podcast Library does not place audio ads in your episodes without your consent and involvement.
No. We do not track listens to your show — that is handled entirely by your media host, which serves your audio directly to listeners. We also link to your podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, and we do not have visibility into listener activity on those platforms.
Yes. You can request removal of your listing at any time.
Absolutely not. Health Podcast Library is an additional distribution platform, not a replacement for them. We encourage you to make your show available across many consumption platforms. We even provide the ability to provide links on your show's pages so your audience can easily find links to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube or whichever platform they prefer.
Yes. Adding a show to Health Podcast Library is similar to adding your show on other podcast player platforms - like iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts or Spotify. We believe that you should distribute your shows across a range of podcast apps, networks, directories, and platforms simultaneously — and we encourage it.
Making credible health podcasts discoverable and accessible is core to our mission — and we don't want cost to be a barrier to that, for both creators and listeners. Basic listings are free because the more credible voices we have in the library, the more useful and relevant it becomes for listeners and creators alike.
For creators seeking additional services and support, we do offer paid membership tiers, including enhanced listings, access to our private community, podcast hosting, monetization support, and consulting. We also generate revenue through sponsorship of our events, awards, and newsletter, as well as display advertising on the platform. Visit our HealthPodcast.org website for more information.
We hear this question a lot, and it's a fair question. It deserves a candid answer.
So, here goes.
The reality is that podcasts don't grow their audience simply because they're listed on a podcast app, website or player. That's true whether your show is listed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or any other platform.
That's the reality, and no one should promise you anything different.
Podcasters grow their audiences through a sustained combination of marketing and promotional activities. There are too many to list here, and the successful strategy will be slightly different for each creator, topic and audience. It is important to create high-quality content, focus on the listener's experience, promoting and cross-promoting, and connecting with audiences where they spend time such as at events, on social media, on websites, through word-of-mouth recommendations, and, of course, through discovery on podcast apps.
But with millions of shows available on the major podcast platforms like Apple and Spotify, the odds are against your show getting substantial growth simply by being listed on another platform.
Our work across HealthPodcast.org is to help address that, and Health Podcast Library is a part of our strategy to support creators of health podcasts and the people they serve.
What we can tell you is that many of our members have grown significantly during the time they've worked with us. However, we know how hard they work to engage their audiences, and it would be misplaced for us to take credit for their success.
Growth comes from the work creators put in. Health Podcast Library provides a curated destination where credible health content is actively sought out by listeners who already care about quality.
We partner with health organizations, companies and brands. We work with podcast industry companies to make services and solutions accessible. We do outreach to engage and attract new listeners to become podcast listeners, so that when they find your show, they already have confidence in what they're about to hear.
What we can say with confidence is this: you won't find a podcast platform that is more dedicated to elevating, amplifying, and accelerating the access to credible health podcasts than Health Podcast Library.
On platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, your show is indexed alongside millions of others with no distinction between credible creators and those that aren't. That's the problem.
Health Podcast Library exists specifically to change that.
Every show in the library goes through a review process before it's listed, so you can be confident your podcast is in the company of other credible, evidence-based health content — not competing for attention next to content that undermines your reputation.
Yes — and we encourage it. The more you promote your listing, the more visibility your show gets, and the more valuable Health Podcast Library becomes for everyone in the community. We recommend linking directly to your show's page on Health Podcast Library wherever you promote your podcast. And we even generate a QR Code for each page that you can include on your websites, brochures, presentations and posters.
Yes. We provide a "Listen on Health Podcast Library" badge that you can display on your website, in your email signature, and across your social media channels. Inside the Member Portal, we also provide shareable assets to help you let your audience know your show is part of Health Podcast Library.
Great question! Please see our answer above in the Getting Started section.
Yes. We feature podcasts produced by health organizations, medical associations, and companies — provided the primary purpose of the show is education, not promotion. Shows that are primarily marketing vehicles are not a fit.
Not at this time. While we support video in a number of ways, Health Podcast Library is audio-forward — meaning we prioritize content that provides a screen-free or screen-light listening experience. To be listed on Health Podcast Library, your show must have a valid RSS feed and be available on at least one major podcast platform. If you're considering adding an audio version of your show, we'd love to hear from you.
It depends. We're primarily looking for shows that are actively publishing fresh content.
However, some podcasts may be evergreen for a period of time — where the content remains highly relevant and valuable regardless of when it was produced. We're happy to consider those on a case-by-case basis. If your show is no longer actively publishing, we encourage you to reach out before submitting. If you are planning to restart a podcast after a hiatus and want Health Podcast Library to be part of your relaunch, please reach out to us after submitting.
We're not able to provide detailed feedback on individual submissions, but the most common reasons include content that doesn't align with our health and credibility standards, audio quality that doesn't meet the standard our listeners expect, a host or contributor background we weren't able to verify, a show that functions primarily as a marketing or promotional vehicle, or a show that hasn't published recently. If your circumstances have changed, you're welcome to resubmit.
Invitations are extended directly by Health Podcast Library. The best way to get your own show in front of us is to submit it directly at HealthPodcastLibrary.com/submit.
Yes. If a current member or trusted health leader referred you, we encourage you to mention that in your submission. We also proactively invite shows to participate — but an invitation isn't automatic acceptance. Every show, whether referred, invited, or self-submitted, goes through a thorough review process. We rely on an engaged group of trusted health leaders and content creators who provide input and guidance on the standards we uphold.
If you received an invitation from us, your review will typically be completed within a couple of days. For podcasts that are submitted without having received a prior invitation, the review process can take several weeks. If you'd like to request an expedited review, please contact us through the form on our website.
Ownership verification is quick and straightforward. When you submit your podcast, we'll either send a verification email to the address listed in your RSS feed, or ask you to temporarily add a 6-digit code we provide into a designated field in your RSS feed metadata — such as the description or copyright field. Once we confirm the code is there, ownership is verified and you're good to go. Most creators complete this in just a few minutes.
We'll send a confirmation to the email address associated with your account as soon as your podcast is live on Health Podcast Library.
Yes. Create an account at healthpodcastlibrary.com and follow the same process to submit multiple shows. You will need to verify ownership of each podcast before it can be added to your account.
Yes. If you produce podcasts on behalf of clients or your organization, you're welcome to submit those shows. Each show is reviewed individually, and the creator or rights holder will need to verify ownership as part of the submission process.
We'd love to hear from you — the earlier, the better. We regularly work with credible health professionals and organizations who are developing new shows, and we're happy to be part of your launch strategy.
Start by submitting your show at HealthPodcastLibrary.com/go. In your submission, let us know that the show is in development and tell us a bit about yourself, your background, and what you're planning. If someone in the Health Podcast Library community referred you, be sure to mention that as well.
From there, we'll set up a conversation to learn more about your vision for the show and walk you through what we look for. Our review criteria still apply — we evaluate pre-launch shows based on the credibility of the creators and the strength of the plan — but you don't need a finished product to start the conversation.
Any podcast with a valid RSS feed can be submitted to Health Podcast Library. If you're looking for a hosting platform, we recommend Megaphone — one of the leading podcast hosting platforms in the industry, and the hosting platform is available optionally on paid membership tiers.
Yes. We currently offer podcast hosting through Megaphone.fm, and may offer others in the future. Megaphone provides reliable, enterprise-grade hosting with advanced analytics, dynamic ad insertion capabilities, and distribution to all major podcast platforms. It's the hosting platform of choice for many of the world's top podcasts and is particularly well-suited for creators who are serious about growth and monetization. Megaphone is typically $99/month, but hosting is available and included in the price of our paid membership tiers.
Yes. Health Podcast Library supports video in three ways.
First, for all podcasts, we can link to your YouTube channel alongside Apple Podcasts and Spotify, making it easy for listeners to find you wherever they watch or listen.
Second, members on an of our paid tiers can add a YouTube playlist to their show page, displaying video episodes alongside their audio content.
Third, members who choose to host on Megaphone can take advantage of Megaphone's video support on Spotify, reaching listeners and viewers on one of the world's largest platforms.
Host profiles are available on paid membership tiers. If you'd like to add a host profile to your listing, you can upgrade your membership at HealthPodcastLibrary.com.
YouTube playlist integration is available on paid membership tiers. If you'd like to add a YouTube playlist to your listing, you can upgrade your membership at HealthPodcastLibrary.com.
The Health Content Integrity Pledge is our commitment framework for creators listed on Health Podcast Library. It outlines the standards we expect from every show in the library — including accuracy, transparency about sources, and a genuine commitment to evidence-based health content. You can read the full pledge at HealthPodcast.org/health-content-integrity-pledge.
We do not provide production services, but we're happy to make referrals to trusted producers if that's something you need. We also provide office hours and other resources to ensure you have access to the tools and support to create high-impact content.
